Birthright Citizenship: Is Trump actually a citizen? What about his Son Barron?

There’s an old saying: “The Skunk smells his own hole first.” Trump is arguing against birthright citizenship (meaning, if you’re born in America you’re an American citizen) so I just thought I’d do a little thought experiment. Trump’s grandfather arrived in America in 1885 (apparently wanting nothing to do with German’s military) and his son, Fred, Trump’s daddy, was born in New York in 1905. Well, if we don’t agree that birthright citizenship is a “thing” let’s take a closer look at the Trumps.

Based on Trump’s claim that birthright citizenship is not guaranteed by the 14th amendment of our constitution (OK, it really is – but give me a moment) then Trump’s father, Fred, would not have been guaranteed to be a citizen. In fact, Trump’s grandfather, after Fred was born, attempted to move BACK to Germany, only to be deported back to the U.S. Just like his grandson, Friedrich (Trump’s grandfather) refused to submit to Germany’s mandatory military service. (I have to wonder if he had “bone spurs.”)

So, taking Trump’s own logic to his father’s “citizenship” – should Trump’s SCOTUS agree our constitution doesn’t say what it really does – then, by extension, Trump’s father, Fred, should NOT have been a citizen. And, Fred never (surprise surprise) served in the military either. Taking this to the logical conclusion then Donald Trump should NOT have been eligible for citizenship because his father shouldn’t have been a citizen. Fred Trump’s “true colors” showed when he was arrested at a KKK rally in New York in 1927 – which wouldn’t seem to be a good look for his “citizenship.”

Let’s take it on face value that Trump is actually a deserving citizen – despite his objections to our 14th amendment. (Yes, I know, his objection isn’t for white people born here) Then we have to look at his son, Barron. Melania was NOT a citizen when Barron was born so, by using Trump’s own logic, Barron is NOT a citizen. Has he been naturalized? There’s another old saying that applies to Trump that says, My: “Rules for me but NOT for thee.” Stay tuned!!!
